Finally got Fates' Live in Athens. Awesome! (too bad it isn't 5.1, though)

Latest haul--Picked up a new re-release copy of Toxik's Think This(great and better quality with B-Sides too).....Also Paradise Lost Requiem(with the extra songs), and Metalium Chapter 6 Nothing to Undo(more bass heavy, more modern with thrash beats--Definitely a keeper!)

Next recommendation - the band PRIMORDIAL from Ireland (there are good Irish metal bands (Geasa, Arcane Sun, Primordial, Mourning Beloveth, etc). I'm listening to a rip of the new Primordial album "To The Nameless Dead", and this thing owns. Intense, brilliant, warm, honest, and with BASS guitar!) Just read up quite a bit on these guys, sound right up my alley for sure. From the descriptions, would Agalloch be somewhat of a comparison...even just the atmospheric style? Either way, they will be one of the next ones on my list to check out. Have a couple new ones I've been working on, Sigh's new one "Hangman's Hymn"(from Japan). Very interesting spin on symphonic black metal, crazy mixing of almost happy orchestration with brutal guitar and vocals. Good stuff. Then I have gotten a couple spins of Korpiklaani's new one in, not grabbing me quite as quick as "Tales Along this Road" did...but should grow along nice. Do like the DVD a lot, guys are fun to watch.

I got "Immortal" by Shaman (apparently they changed back from 'Shaaman') for Christmas. It's pretty good, but I think their other two albums are better. It's probably because they basically have a completely new line-up.
I bought "Works Will Come Undone" by Asunder. Two tracks and over 70 minutes of funeral doom (with a cello!). I've only listened to the first track (20 minutes) once so far, but it sounds good. I'm waiting for a chance to crank it up once I'm all alone.
I ordered "A New World?" by Drawn ($4 @ amazon.com!) which should be coming in within a week or so. They've got members from In The Woods... which is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands (I STILL need to pick up "Omnio" and "Three Times Seven on a Pilgramage"). I've never listened to them, but from what I've read, I think I'll like 'em.

I received "A New World?" by Drawn the other day. Listened to it a few times so far. While not as good as In The Woods... it's still a solid album in the same vein as ITW. None of the songs are bad by any means, but none of them REALLY stand out either. Maybe with more time?

I FINALLY got "Omnio" by In The Woods... in the mail today. It was a belated birthday gift from my sister. I've listened to it once so far and I'm loving it. Really great album. I have Virgin Black's cd/shirt combo pre-ordered and "E Vehementer Nos" by Vehementer Nos coming soon. Pretty awesome progressive black metal with lots of different instruments and stuff. Here's a link to their myspace: www.myspace.com/vehementernos

Holy shit is "Woods III" kickin' my ass!! Only about 2 and a half spins in and it's amazing, more than worth the wait. The drums are standing out a lot as the biggest improvement over the last albums, but the production, writing and overall everything is better. That's saying a lot considering I didn't think they could top "Pursuit..." for me. Still needs a lot of time, it's a ton of music to digest. For now, even with so many great standout songs...have to go with that instrumental as the top kick ass tune. Great mellow atmosphere, then a slow build to a crushing end...awesome stuff! ;D

Finally got Riverside's new one "Rapid Eye Movement", popped it in the truck yesterday for all of 2 songs. Sounded good so far, trying not to be prejudiced by some of the not so great reviews out there. But I'm kinda going in figuring it won't hold up to "Second Life Syndrome", so maybe it'll surprise me. "Woods III" continues to kick ass, awesome album! Looking forward very soon to Virgin Black's new album, been really liking "Sombre Romantic" a lot and the clips of the new one sound quite a bit heavier. Which isn't a necessity for them, but will be cool to hear that side of them more.

I just got Darkspace's two albums in the mail yesterday. I've only had the chance to listen to "II" once so far, but I'm definitely liking it! They play very atmospheric scary-sounding black metal. Good stuff. I'm still waiting for Virgin Black's newest to come...

Virgin Black's newest album freaking rocks. That band can do no wrong. And speaking of absolutely amazing bands, I just got "Three Times Seven On A Pilgrimage" by In The Woods... today. Listening to it right now!
