Ben, Ben, Ben... "steal". Oh, brother... you're still mad about that Old Covenant fullfilled a new one made thing..? As a Catholic, I view Jews as my older brothers in faith. -RBH

An Israeli friend once lamented: 'You know who we resent the most? Not Yaser. Not Hitler. Moses. That motherfucker led us around the desert for forty-odd years, and decided on the ONE SPOT in the Middle-East that has no oil.'

Seth - the OT wasn't designed "to lead to" the events of what you call the NT. While the NT depends on the OT, the OT has NO connection to the NT.
Gonzo - thanks for the quote. spelling Yassir aside
Fox - nevermind.
Brett - you worship the Woodland Critters near South Park, right?
Rick: don't ever bother. Your words sound like "Yeah, I have this ONE black friend, err, whatshisname down in, uhmmm, accounting" A bit hollow.

...black friends? Hell... I'm still working on getting a white friend... any friend, any color. Somebody... PLEASE like me.
I was speaking figuratively about the "older brothers in faith" thing. I would add, I've certainly read the first five books of the Bible though.

It's apparant that you don't believe anything in the Bible, since you've said as much...and I've always respected that. I'm not sure why then you want to dispute which section of the book is legit, or makes sense...or if they have any correlation with each other. But whether you believe it or not, you can't deny the very first prophecy in the Bible...in Genesis, that Satan would bruise God's seed's heal and that his seed would bruise Satan in the head(very rough translation as it's been awhile since I've read it). In other words, Jesus(God's son) would be mildly and ultimately unfataly wounded...but he would deal the fatal blow when the time comes. Hogwash or not, the entire OT was filled with prophecies about the coming of Jesus...from Abraham to Moses to Joseph, to King David...all leading up to the arrival of the 'promised one' at which time the original covenant was broken and the new one instituted. Like I said, I'm fine with you not believing...but not unlike the mainstream religions of today, you shouldn't interperet it your own way. Seth

He's talking about when Santa parted the red sea... C'mon, now, you've got it all mixed up! Santa didn't part the Red Sea, he WEARS a red suit. The only "parting" that he ever does is the bricks from mortar whenever he squeezes his fat ass down somebody's chimney. #lookout# Then again, I suppose, since bricks are usually red-colored, and an avalanche of bricks falling to the ground could be described as a "sea of bricks"....then maybe you could say he "parted the Red Sea" #badidea#

Seth As I said before: the documents used by the Israelites is NOT the same one as the first part used by the Christians, who rewrote sections to justify., err, latter events. What you read of the OT is the Christianized rewrite. I suggest you ask your local synagogue for a copy of their biblical documents. Notice the Ten Commandments, for instance, don't match up?

As fun as this whole my religion is better than your religion crap is, it does kind of drift away from the original topic which is the only thing in the thread I want to comment on so I've carefully marginalized the rest.
The whole creation/evolution in education thing is stupid. I'm not fond of the behavior of either of the two major opposing factions.
I think the solution is simple. Eliminate public education. Let people pay for the dogma of their choice. Let people not pay for the dogma they don't like.

Eliminate public education. Right. Because Americans just aren't dumb enough. A friend once called Libertarians 'Republicans who want to smoke dope,' and as funny as I still think that is, I fear it may be a little worse than that.

I think Thraxy had some very interesting statistics on it. Amazing how when people say we should have our public high school system (which is terrible) emulate our colleges and they way they are funded (note: we have the best universities in the world) get bemoaned by others. Who's smoking dope now?

I believe there's a reason for that Fox. The teachers at my kids' school are more interested in pushing their liberal multi-culture agenda than they are in teaching reading, writing and math skills.
...and even when they do teach reading for example it's frocked in multi-culturalism, and other liberal agendas.
The NEA is an arm of the DNC, imo.

Who's smoking dope now? Consider that a government that requires its citizens to make it out of high school (this law is very loosely enforced, at least here in Texas) and requires them to pay for it violates the basic tenets of the capitalism you guys would like to deregulate. I would like to see Thrax's stats on this and the conclusions he would reach. He was a pretty adamant Naderite.
