Well noted and I see you're a smart guy. I've read a lot over my lifetime about various religions, dynasties(most of those you mentioned), different gov'ts and how religion was involved in their rise, fall and the wars they participated in. Mind you, I haven't read hardly anything in years since life and family have taken any of that free time I used to have. I do remember reading from many historians that in their opinion, and based on their research that religion has been responsible for the most deaths in war than any other factor. This is of course counting ancient history. Not too long ago I did have a discussion with someone on another forum about this. It was more of an arguement as he was a major ass-hole...unlike yourself. At that time I found some sites that I'll have to search for again. Probably on the weekend when I have more time and energy. BTW, like your little crossing out trick...pretty funny... Seth

the FOX News networks reason to exist is to propegate the republican agenda moreso than any other news organiztion, it's practically a mouth piece for the republican party and the Bush administration. No what Fox actually does is give the republican point of view a voice. There's nothing wrong with that. They do a good job of getting the liberal voice on there too. It just seems so strange because it gives the viewpoint. To a degree, Rather isn't much to blame. The story should be fully investigate, he was scapegoated to a large degree. Of couse, being one of the more "liberal" broadcasters, that alone means a spanking from the corporate behemoths. FOX itself has spewed more propaganda, although now that the Bush administration uses TAX dollars to fund radio programs to promote their policies (A clear violation, no?) maybe the FCC should start lobbying massive fines against Bush? Dude, they used forged documents... It doesn't get much worse than that. It's one thing to give opinion it's another thing to use falsified documents right before the general election. Don't Cha Think? What if it changed the outcome of the election? And hell ya Dan Rather is partially to blame. And it's OK to use tax dollars to fund radio programs, they are just supposed to let the listeners know that they were getting paid, and they didn't. Progpower! I am hoping to make it out there, dude... don't know the living situation or where we'll be in the country, heh heh, or the band lineup (does it matter this much? I've missed the last 3 years dammit!), I will do my best to get out there just to hang with the crew! DUDE!! That would be awesome, Ebony and Ivory...no... Tree Hugger and War Monger, living in perfect proggy harmony! ;D I've been the last two years and I've had a freakin blast!

Well noted and I see you're a smart guy. Awww, shucks....cut it out, you're making me blush! I do remember reading from many historians that in their opinion, and based on their research that religion has been responsible for the most deaths in war than any other factor. This is of course counting ancient history. Thanks for clarifying your point, I appreciate it. But I still find it debatable. Not too long ago I did have a discussion with someone on another forum about this. It was more of an arguement as he was a major ass-hole...unlike yourself. Awww, shucks....again with the compliments! You're embarrassing me!
See, I do try NOT to be an asshole and I appreciate your detecting that (it's a testament to your maturity). I've been challenging opinions on other forums and those kids there (literally--mostly teenagers!) really took offense to me poking holes in their P.O.V.'s. I got sick and tired of dealing with their immaturity so I left them alone to their irrational arguments and knee-jerked conclusions. It's good to be dealing with someone mature enough to realize that I'm trying to have a meaningful and constructive debate. You're also mature enough to be forthcoming with your mea culpas it's what I would expect from you since I'm never wrong.BTW, like your little crossing out trick...pretty funny... Ah, yes....I learned that from another forum where it was used for sarcasm, muttering under the breath, or anything else not meant to be taken seriously. I like mixing in some sarcasm or facetiousness in the middle of serious business.

Know what you mean about trying to have a discussion with immature idiots. My buddy marvthemailman will remember a few of those on the Howard Stern BB named Joel Rifkin(he was the one I tangled with), Cookie Pussy and Beths Foot...remember him Marv?...what a TOOL...LMAO!! Anyway, there's no point in fighting on an internet message board...there's never a conclusion and it's absurd to try and be a tough guy. That's why I've always liked this forum, even though it can get heated sometimes....everyone respects everyone else. Was going to do some searching today, but had to play some b-ball with the kids and I'm tapped out. Getting to old for that shit... Seth

I hear that, while I'm not all that old really...I feel it during the week especially if I try extra-curricular activities. I've abused my poor body from the time I was real young doing construction and probably worse, drinking and partying to excess up till about 6 years ago. I stay feeling young by listening to good headbanging music...except man, I get this real bad ache in my neck when I do that, and then my back hurts....oops, am I whining?... Seth Sorry for going off topic a bit guys...

They do a good job of getting the liberal voice on there too. Don't let yourself be fooled. Those ridicuouls pundit talk shows do little other than demean and ridicule the leftist perspective. Within twenty seconds of a liberal opening his or her mouth, Hannity, O'Reilly and crew start pouncing them for little reason other than they disagree. I have yet to see an articulate leftist given the chance to actually make a point without some right-wing partisan lunatic hack verbally decimated them with ridiculous rhetoric. I especially like O'Reilly's "shut up" and Hannity's "You're wrong." The whole thing is a sham. I can hear it coming already, so here you go: I defy you to find a single liberal who takes Alan Colmes seriously.

Ah, poor Colmes(and not because I really like or agree with him)...but that bully Hannity tears him a new one every night. He's just out matched vocally and in charisma. I actually haven't watched in quite awhile, I can't handle that "my side is right period" from both sides while they discredit each other to the point that no average person could make a clear, logical decision. The truth is.. They are outmatched in ideas. They are outmatched in factual proof. Colmes does a great job, but he is stuck with a party that is on the wrong side of history...again. I swear 1985-2005... Nearly Identical in premise. Plus they throw plenty of Liberal Voices at Hannity but he out reasons them. No wonder Jon Stewart hates debates shows. Because the Liberals can't win in substance. CNN got rid of their show because the same thing was happening. The liberals are in essence throwing the monopoly board over casue they are losing in the court of public opinion and creative thought. I mean the Iraqis are dancing in the streets praying to God and thanking George Bush for their freedom and Dumb Ass John Kerry comes out and poo poos the whole thing. Come on it's right before your eyes Johnny!

C'mon, now, age is a state of mind. I older than you (I think) and I don't think I'm old....that is, well...until I foolishly try to play B-ball with the college-age kids and get an all-too-painful reminder of the cruelty of aging. No One Here is as old as I!! But Damn if I don't still look good! LMAO!

Al Franken can give most conservatives a run for their money. I pose a question -- if money is the root of all evil, why are all the religions begging for it ? another question--do you believe in God? and do you believe in Aliens? and have you seen either one?

Colmes does a great job... You say that because Hannity, who is far more charismatic and vocal regardless of his innate assholosity, consistently beats his ass. Colmes is a weenie. Franken, Rhodes, Lionel, et al do a far finer job at articulating the leftist perspective and do so without falling into the douchbagedness that typifies conservative punditry. As for Stewart, he's obviously a liberal, but his reasons for hating the red v. blue format are entirely legit. They resolve nothing and cause only headaches. Garofalo v Hannity, though, might be a ticket worth paying for. but he is stuck with a party that is on the wrong side of history... So you're saying that · Arms races = good · Corporate deregulation = good · State-endorsed religions (and by extension, theocracies) = good · Anti-immigration policy = good · War = good · Media consolidation = good · economic sanctions as a means for fighting genocide = good · fabricating justifications for war = good · using tax money to issue partisan propaganda and let it pass as real news = good · employing illegal and degraded means to win presidencies = good · blacklisting leftist sympathizers = good · dissent = bad · reproductive rights = bad · knowledge of sexuality = bad · atheism = bad · leftist leanings = bad · blowjobs = bad · evolution = junk science - keep it out of schools · creationism = the final verdict - teach nothing else Shall I keep going? Also consider how much good the Republicans did during the Civil Rights movement, for women's empowerment and suffrage, etc. Not much. Right now I can only think of one Republican president that did any good in that field, but 1) he was assassinated and 2) people think he was gay. I have read of specualtions that he didn't do the Empancipation business out of any moral stance in favor of blacks, but I can't back that argument up.

Sorry for going off topic a bit guys... Yeah, I was kinda worried that some people might not like there being two or three threads going on under one topic. I pose a question--if money is the root of all evil, why are all the religions begging for it? another question--do you believe in God? and do you believe in Aliens? and have you seen either one? Well, this definitely calls for starting a new topic. I would like to deal with these questions, but just not under "Voting Has Begun." I've already been a bad boy in straying off topic here.
