OPETH To Enter Studio March 15th [Hot Flashes - 05.02.15 23:25:30]
OPETH have posted the following message at their official website:
"OPETH will be entering Fashination Street Studios (in Stockholm, Sweden) on March 15 to record their 8th yet untitled opus. The band are currently in rehearsal mode, which is a rare occasion having recorded the last four records without rehearsing. The recording will be overseen by the uprising recording mogul Jens Bogren. As of today no names for production duties have surfaced and it looks like the next record will be a band produced effort. Nothing has been decided regarding who's taking care of the mix either so we'll have to keep you wondering. Opeth and their management have spent the last month meeting the five top label candidates for the next Opeth recording contract. The names are still secret but a decision will be made very soon and obviously announced here earlier than anywhere else. Several Summer festival appearances have been confirmed and will be posted here soon. A Summer tour of the US has also been confirmed and will be posted here soon as well. The matters are still very "hush, hush" so we can't say anything more at this point. What can be said is that the band will make a few low-profile apperances prior to the next release and several full blown headline tours all over the world after the release. Take your rest now!"[/i][/color] According to some interviews and from the DVD, this may be a 1 or 2 song epic dealing with the occult. I'm hoping it's done somewhat in the "Blackwater Park" vein. We shall see... Seth

Looks like Brett has hit the 300 mark. I'm waiting for ihm to spontaneously combust so I can blame it on his right-wing tendencies.
Opeth... I'm starting to think they can do no wrong. Every album starting with My Arms, Your Hearse has been unbelievable.

I only wish I had a longer drive from Best Buy today. Heard the first track, nice and loud of course and it sounds great already. The wife's got a new babysitting job, quite a good one actually...but it's too hectic to even bother trying to listen to anything now... Most of their albums take some time to really get into, which is better usually...so looking very forward to checkin' it all out tomorrow. Production is perfection... ;D Seth

Looks like I got my wish, they're coming to the Marquee Theater in Tempe on Oct. 9th! Nice small venue, only 19 bucks a ticket...can't beat that. Looks like it'll be my 12 year olds first concert, he's all excited. It's the first stop on the short US/Canada tour, I see two stops in Cali right after...gonna catch one Bret? Probably a silly question... As far as the new album, it's been real hectic since I bought it and haven't really given it enough time to tell. Think it'll be a slow grower, but quite a bit is sounding good already. "The Grand Conjuration" should kick ass live... ;D Seth

So much for that idea, first 3 dates cancelled on the tour...AZ and the 2 in Cali... Their site says they will try to reschedule, hope so...but me and the kid were so stoked for this, friggin' sucks. I guess they couldn't get their work visas in time, not trying to be racist here...but there's 50-100 illegals at the Home Depot by my work every morning getting picked up by construction crews...where's their work visas?... Uh...I think somebody's gonna have to start a new poll to include "Ghost Reveries" -- which I like very much, BTW.

Might have to do that, liking the new one, ha? I love it, actually falls in my 3rd spot now behind only "Morningrise" and "Blackwater Park".
Are you getting used to the growls or just tolerating them? I'm really starting to like certain types of growls, like Mikael of course and Kobi from Orphaned Land is awesome...great clean vocals too. If they seem to fit the music or concept and are low enough as to not be irritating...they can really sound good IMO.
Need to comment some more on Orphaned Land since I've picked up their other 2 albums fairly recently. Might be another one you'd really like if you haven't already checked them out.

Meanwhile, can you folks please move your ballot votes from Deliverance and Damnation to Orchid and My Arms Your Hearse, where they rightfully belong?!?!?!
