I don't think you're the only one. The dude's gone totally Fruit Loops. "YOU don't know the history of psychology... I do..." I personally think his shenanigans are a combination of Mid-Life Crisis and Publicity Stunt. Hope the future Ex-Mrs. Cruise knows what she's getting into Depending on the direction this thread takes, I think here is okay... thanks for being concerned

Spyder has good reason to be concerned .....after all, 'twas I who jumped on her case for starting a light-hearted topic in The Arena. I'm just that bad.........MWAH-HAHAHAHAHAHA! DISCLAIMER
I am not a Scientologist, nor a defender of Scientology. What I see in Tom Cruise is a passion for what he believes to be true. It doesn't seem as though people can look past the Scientology label and see that maybe he is on to something. I think that the research he's claimed to have done needs to be analyzed BEFORE anyone starts calling him loony. I find it peculiar that almost everyone is calling the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes thing a publicity stunt. I don't even like the guy (but I loooove Katie ....uh, that is, I used to before she hooked up with TC ), but I'm willing to give their very public relationship the benefit of the doubt.

I've found it to be somewhat comical really, and I'm actually a fan of a lot of his movies...just try to separate the actor from the parts they play and if the movies are good...that's all that matters. As far as his real life antics, he is going a bit overboard with the Oprah show and countless other interviews about his beliefs. I don't hold his beliefs against him at all even though I think (only from what I've read) that it's similar to most organized religions with money being the bottom line, yet the sci-fi stuff is even further 'out there'. Now when it comes to his psychology rantings, people really need to take it for what it is. I actually agree with him on the Riddlin and other drugs issue, especially when it comes to kids. I've watched a variety of drugs destroy my wife's neice over the years...she will never be 'normal' and may well have been by just being allowed to grow up and mature like most kids. But that's as far as I'm going to listen to anyone about mental health who isn't actually a doctor...and I rarely listen to them...I'm far to cynical for that... Seth

yeah, i'm really speaking of his day to day antics. i guess if i were a guy that snagged a gal almost half my age i'd be giddy too. but oddly, he's acting as if he's on drugs. scientology....have some good thoughts and i'm glad he's staying true to his beliefs but i'd have to see proof from a real m.d. i dunno, guess it's his faith....he doesn't need proof. it's good to know one's self and to figure out what's bothering you, i do that now myself but all the other weird stuff that goes with that scientology package. i love cruise and his acting, except what was that one...vanilla sky? weird....but i don't like how he's acting. strange and like he's better than anyone else.

Let me repeat: I don't like the guy. However, it boggles my mind that a big deal was made out of his jumping on Oprah's couch. Whoop-de-do! I think his excitement is more over the kind of person that Katie is rather than her relative youth. TC is the kind of guy that can bang anyone -- ANYONE -- so I'm not gonna begrudge his exuberance.

On Scientology in general: www.clambake.orgOn Tom Cruise: Katie's the latest in a long line of beards. Poor misguided girl was too easy to brainwash, I imagine by the kvlt of celebrity and personality Tom has. How I know this? His own mother said so.

FYI, Katie is no "girl"...she's 26. Plus she is a celebrity in her own right, so that kinda weakens "kvlt [sic] of celebrity" argument. And to take a mother's word for it...just think of how many mothers of vicious criminals say, "But he's such a nice boy! He's only misunderstood!"
