hi all. i ran across this board after listening to a double CD of awaken the guardian and wanted information on john arch. i first heard about fates warning after night on brocken came out. picked it up on cassette when it had the first album cover i believe. it was raw but great ! the next album the specter within i actually went to a metal store in long island and got the album cover signed by the band. the rest is history. i'm 38 and have been following this band since almost day one. i'm glad to see there is a still a fan base and that the band is still together.
i never knew about this board. was it in another incarnation or has it always been at fateswarning.com? thanks.

The original board was on fateswarning.com about a year after A Pleasant Shade of Gray was released, sometime in early 1998. The format was much different (and preferred by this member, anyway) and it built quite a following. After the release of Disconnected in the summer of 2000, the board color went from black to orange, and stayed that way until about 2004, I believe, when the Fates forces of the U.S. and Europe merged to take over (Colleen and Dennis, respectively) which had two separate boards at one time, if I am not mistaken. A compromise was soon reached into the format you see today.
Many of the old faces from the black/orange board days are no longer here, but some of the familiar ones that are left can tell you many tales of yore concerning the crazy stuff that used to be posted there. I believe the new format is what drove many others away, and turned the ones that are left into "curious observers", myself included.
That is all for now

There were certainly some people back a few years ago " Whose carpeting didnt go wall to wall" if you get what I mean.
However, what forum can you go to where people have heard Apocrypha and Artillery for heaven's sakes???

Welcome Rikky! We're about in the same boat, same age(you've got a year on me)...and been fans for many moons. I actually got into them right when "Spectre..." came out, was blown away. Got "Brocken..." right away and have been a huge fan ever since. Was also a member of the old orange board for awhile, not nearly as long as some of the others since I'm always way behind the technology curve. While many liked it better than this one, I'm the opposite...prefer this style of board. Stick around!

So; old-Orange-board style: Teach your children to worship Elfriede Jelinek! I´ve just read the Piano Teacher. One hell of an experience. Actually the most extreme, a n d the most moving book i´ve read since.. since when? Easlily on on my top-five list together with Franz and Fjodor.

I used to hang on the orange board quite a bit. I actually met BearArms in person. Sold him my extra DT tickets for a show in Baltimore. Hung out a little bit. Trying to remember some others from the board. Scott Mosher (allaround nice guy), ArcticFox to name a couple. Oh, and I recognize chimaera, fox and thrax too. I lurked more than posted, but I was ALWAYS there. Seeing some others. Raiderblack, K9.

Hey Everybody!! I miss the Orange days as well. I met my significant other there...
There were some great debates there!
I'm the oldest fuck in the woods!! And I have come back today because I am even older as of today!
I think if Fates were more active this board would be too....
I try to pop in every once in a while but I have so little time to hit everything all the time...
Hope everyone is doing great!!
Lates
