Might as well get this one going, even though not much is going on yet. I missed the first night, caught the second one. Of course these early auditions get old kinda quick, think they need to squeeze them into one week really. One interesting note from AZ, the girl who won the AZ Idol contest(sang on Wed. night) is amazing. Should go pretty far I would think, and she's only 16! A guy in the Navy who is also from AZ got in the first night, have only seen him on the news so far. Everyone says he's good though.

I can't even watch it until the final 10 or so... Even then it's only entertaining as a competition for the most part, Most of the music sucks.... at least on Rockstar they sing some good songs.... btw last year's Idol winner sucked!

I agree for the most part, I count on there being at least a couple quality performers and some good music hopefully. But it doesn't really get good till the later rounds. Plus there's not much on otherwise on those nights, even if there is we record one or the other and watch on other 'nothing on' nights.

some of the contestants really scared me. we watch ai in the early stages because there's nothing else worth watching. we went to see the ai tour when they came to richmond. i'm gonna tell you quite simply....elliott yamin should have won it last year. he just didn't have the soul patrol behind him or the rich cali peeps (sorry brett and any other cali folks). his voice is so strong and rich in person. he and chris d. sang a song together and you didn't realize chris was there. that's how much stronger elliott's voice is. i think i know what girl you're talking about seth...the 16 year old. yeah, she was really good but so far i've not seen anyone that really blew me away. on a side note...seth, sorry we missed out with the barrett-jackson auction...staying with you again this year. can't stand that the bears won. the pats are playing the colts now. GO COLTS! party on metalgarth!

That Fidel Casto dude was happening, as was that little shy powerhouse background singer chick from last night! Looking forward to the wackiness that is always part of the NY episodes...

GO COLTS! party on metalgarth! Hey Spydy, what's shakin'?... ;D Yeah, she was pretty impressive considering no music. She may be one of those that really gets better even with a song behind her. BJA came and went, never made it either...we even considered entering the '58 Chevy Bel Air my wife inherited from her dad. Maybe next time, she's not sure she wants to sell it...don't blame her. You know they still have signs up that say "BJ PARKING".... #ohgoon# We never did have a football discussion this season. Not a Bears fan either, would have been OK with either the Pats or Colts playing them and hopefully winning. Gotta root for Manning, another one of those Marino type QBs with the great career that needs a championship to go with it. Plus those commercials he does are friggin' hilarious... Back on topic... That Fidel Casto dude was happening, as was that little shy powerhouse background singer chick from last night! Looking forward to the wackiness that is always part of the NY episodes... What's up Scott? Good to see you back too... ;D I didn't see last nights, plan on watching at least half of tonight's show though. There has been some real nut cases on what little I've seen, never ceases to amaze me how much people are willing to embarrass themselves. Hope all is well with everyone, may be able to get back on more soon.

Some decent guys and gals this week, we did see the one from Tues. night...didn't know my wife recorded it. The Castro looking guy was a surprise, might have potential. How about that little opera girl? Don't know what to think of her, a bit odd...but yet I was impressed at how she changed seamlessly into 3 totally different styles and did pretty good at all. And of course I've probably already found the guy I'll root for most, can't remember his name...the heavy set blues dude. Damn, he had some serious power in those lungs and hit every note on the button...and being a pretty big southern rock fan, I like him. Reminded me a lot of Dicky Betts... #rockin# Would have to say there's been some of the fruitiest and most obviously mentally challenged folks this year too, and no offense to the mentally challenged at all. But they can be pretty darn funny on this show... #ohgoon#

Agree with your post in the other thread Scott, was thinking they could just do an all girl final 12. Most of the guys were anywhere from crap to pretty decent, nothing great. But the girls were excellent save for maybe 2 or 3, and of course they were not the ones to go home last night... I'm guessing looks played into it with Antonella and Alaina staying, nice to look at yes...but the worst singers of the girls that night. The 2 that went probably would have soon enough anyway, the competition they have with the others is tough for sure. I like the Sparks girl from AZ, partial cuz of that...but she can really sing. But a couple of the other ones are gonna be nearly impossible to beat. Of course the best looking award goes to Sabrina IMO, she is a hottie of the highest order... #drooling# #wuv# Far as the guys, it was easy to see 2 out of probably 8 or 9 go away. The only one I actually like is Sundance, but he needs to hit the southern rock and blues hard...that's where he excels. However "Nights in White Satin" is one of my favorite all time songs and even though he did it with an operetic voice, I liked it. That Chris guy(aka Jack Osbourne) is funny and an OK singer, can do better maybe. The beatbox guy can actually sing, reminded me of Sting crossed with Rod Stewart...not bad. And the bald guy has potential, that's about it for the guys though.

Guys were much better the other night, I really liked Sundance...that's what he needed to do. That guy's got some powerful vocals, and he's about the only rocker...so he needs to stay in. Got my kid to dial it up and he voted a bunch of times for him. Some of the others surprised me and stepped it up pretty good, might be a better final round than I thought. Aside from a few amazing performances(again), some of the girls dropped off a bit. I think Melinda Doolittle has the best overall voice and talent, man she's awesome. Wonder if the Antonella controversy will get her booted or keep her in? She needs to go, wasn't impressed with her at all again. Tonight is a crap shoot as far as who goes, should be interesting.

The girls are much better, overall, than the guys. Stephanie, Melinda, Lakisha, Jordan have the potential and the big voices, to make the top 4. The guys did sound a bit better, but overall, so far, they are sleep inducing. Blake is making it though, his personality and style are fantastic, and I think Sundance, if he boosts his self-esteem can hit it up, as well.
Antonella should never have made the top 20 to begin with and with her attitude, she needs to go. DItto that young indian dude. He sounded good in tryouts, but his song choices and age are sabotaging himself.
It's a girls race, if you ask me.

I still can't believe Sanjay is on. I think HE'S even shocked. Anyhow, last night... well the guys found their way back to mediocrity. Blake was great, as usual! My expectations of the goils... especially Stephanie, Melinda, Lakisha and that curly haired chick.
