So what does everyone think now that the 2 tickets are named and ready to go? This is more interesting than I even expected, history will be made either way. I do have some opinions, which I was hoping I could avoid as I still hate politics...but it's hard not to develop them with everything going on. For now I'll just say that my conservative side is coming out more this time than the last couple. I've always been a hair more conservative than liberal, but disgusted a bit more with the Republicans than Democrats lately. Certain issues have caused me to look at things a bit differently, unfortunately I still have no faith in any of them... Let's get the war of words started!

Palin piqued my interest, Obama still makes her look experienced.
McCain bores me, and Obama disgusts me, and he'll win my state huge.

There's nothing racist going on here as I'm not racist in the least, but I'm not an Obama fan at all. I don't think he really know's what he's talking about half the time, but his good speaking ability and presence have helped him get this far. I think as the pressure mounts and the debates come up he may not look quite so brilliant. Far as the issues go, there are some holes in the Dem's foreign policy(as if anyone really has a good idea for that)...and the health care problem. Again, I'm not convinced that McCain/Palin can do anything with those 2 issues either...but I'm not on board with the majority of what Obama has said regarding them. I'm also a little weary of his past connections and dealings, while at the same time aware of the propaganda methods used to try and discredit people during an election...Lord knows they did a number on Kerry. Oh, and on McCain back in '00 from his own party. So as far as McCain, not a big fan of his either...though I respect his service to the country greatly. Is he really as much of a Maverick as he wants us to believe, is he really not completely spoiled by Washington? Guess we'll see, but obviously the smartest thing he ever did was picking Palin for VP...she will win the White House for him IMO. Haven't seen or heard anything about her that really turns me off, other than the obvious ultra-conservative view on abortion. Hopefully she doesn't bring God too much into her politics, she is very religious after all. So once again, I can't see where either party is gonna turn this country around for the better...much less the world. But I'm on record now as saying that the Republicans will reside in the White House for 4 more years at least.

I keep hearing from Democrats that "this is the year for change", and Obama is going to be the key guy for this. Two prominent professors in my humble city have both told me this, and one of them even asked me the other night while I was at dinner if I was watching the debate tonight. I said "what debate?" (with a double meaning to it, of course, where he thought I was unaware they were on, when really I was unaware people were actually referring to it as a 'debate') So I responded "How is it a debate when they refuse to disagree on certain items?", to which he scoffed "yeah right". Stuffy academic types can be so pedantic. I guess Obama it is for him, since he's looking for change. Actually, "change" is probably all we will have left after this election, considering the path the dollar is taking. But that's neither here nor there. I wanted to actually believe there were differences between the candidates this year, I really did. And then I was brought back into reality, as I always am, by Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5WiE6MnmCMWhether you think the solution lies with the generator of this video above matters not. I am just astounded that our 1 party system has convinced everyone that there are differences between the two of them. And so I yawn my way through another election season. Wake me when it's over, please, if any resemblance of the America we once knew is still even intact. thraxhead

There was no debate, it was a bunch of attacks on the others record. Lame, just a continuation of the tv ads.

I'm not happy with the "debates" so far, or with the "Bailout" plans.
That said, it's not so much that the Democrats should rise, but that the Republican party FINALLY fall down forever.
I would like a third alternative, and the Libertarians AREN'T it.

Obama getting elected will be the best thing ever for the Republican party, and the worst thing for any future aspiring black leaders.
