Steve Zimmerman and Mark Zonder have each past their eras in FW.
Who would you like to see take the reigns of the skins man?
I nominate Norm Leggio

I second that nomination... and also nominate my buddy Tim Rhode (Perpetual)... Colleen

Well, with the addition of a new drummer, it's possible the sound of FW could change... so with that, it doesn't matter to me who sits on the throne next, just as long as he's energetic, creative, and can lay down a nice groove once in a while. Wasn't a huge fan of Zimmerman's drumming, but Zonder was definitely an influence on me when I was drumming and he will be missed

This may be a stupid question, but since I'm new I'll ask anyway, Why did Zonder leave? and what's he doing now?

From what I understand... He had and has MANY projects going on... specifically one he was quite thrilled about, playing with Montrose. Ronnie is one of Mark's all time favorite musicians. My own personal opinion? I think maybe it could be a contractual thing. Maybe he didn't want to wait the 4+ years anymore between albums. I do know (from reading his site) that he's working on "Afro-Cuban" type drum work. Maybe he's just wanting to expand his musical horizons and needed to free himself from the commitment to Fates in order to do that. All I know is that I'm gonna miss him. Greatly miss him. Okay... Gonna go cry now...

Gonna go cry now... when you talk about waiting four years, could that be a cash thing? I know many of us think these guys in bands are making a living but many of them work side jobs like construction etc. to make ends meet

You know, in terms of cash for the albums... I would assume that the responsibility for the cost would lie with Metal Blade. But that's just a guess... I do know that Ray works in his down time rebuilding engines. He used to work construction way back... as for the others.... that I don't know. I think with everyone's side projects and/or families, it's just very hard for them to get their schedules aligned, in terms of writing and whatnot...

Zonder replacement? Alex Arellano. At least for the tours. Either him or Derron. Both those guys are frickin wow.

Nope! Just another one of the things we found that we have in common... a love for Mustangs (classic and the newer years)... and getting our hands dirty building and rebuilding stuff

Obviously, there's only one correct choice.
