Just got it, and didnt find it all that exciting. I liked "Repentance", but tought most of the tracks was unoriginal. F.eks. "Constant Motion" sounded like som kinda Metallica cover. I dont think that DT measure up to FW musically. JP`s riffs are cool, but one gets tired

I dont think that DT measure up to FW musically. Never did and never will if you ask me. Why Dream Theater is so much more popular is a mystery...

1) Jim Matheos isn't a self-promoter whorebot. 2) Fates lyrics tend to be dark/depressing 3) Metal Blade fucked up bigtime in the 1990s

I think its decent, couple of the slower tracks drag on. and it lacks a great song.

Almost my exact thoughts for "Octavarium", actually has some great parts of songs...some of the title track and parts of "Panic Attack" are very good, but doesn't stay that way. Thought the slow songs were pretty bad on that one and most of it was just OK, haven't read much about this one to make me grab it.

I think Sacrificed Sons is amazing, best song they've done in a long while. Panic Attack is pretty good too, rest of the album is spotty.

Hard to tell at this point, but i have to say i´ll probably dig it big time. The production is sharp and perfect, you sure can tell that Paul Northfield is the producer.. i loved what he did with Rush´ Vapor Trails. A masterpiece by the way. The best Rush album ever. Rush rules.

Great production and great engineering. I think this is a more straight ahead heavy metal album for Dream Theater. Lyrically, it toys with imagery that is normally more of a metal subject matter and the riffs are "lowdown dirty-mean" as said here in the South. I prefer Octavarium, Train of Thought and Images and Words, however.

Constant Motion has some great guitar and drum parts. Mike doing some vox was cool. Its a good single and cool video (on Comcast on-demand right now).
