Damn, I'm lovin' this stuff...have Moonsorrow's "Voimasta Ja Kunniasta" on the headphones right now. A potential masterpiece and I thought "Kivenkantaja" would be hard to top, these guys can do no wrong so far IMO. "Verisakeet" has been a much slower grower with the super epic songs and overall album length, more of the have to listen to the whole thing straight through type album. But it's getting there. There's so many bands I keep reading about and want to check out, have my eye first on some Vintersorg and Borknager even though I need to take a break from buying anything new and catch up with what I have. Right now I'll keep working on Moonsorrow, Wintersun, Ensiferum, and Einherjer. But here's some of the running list I have, throw out some opinions and some new ones to add... ;D Thyrfing Windir Tyr Falkenbach Lumsk Galar Manegarm Isengard Enslaved(early stuff as well as newer style) Mithotyn Folk Earth Finntroll and Korpiklaani for the more 'humpa' sound Course I would add Agalloch to the category of folk at least, would have to say that them, Amorphis, and even "Pursuit..." from Woods of Ypres is what turned me on to this genre in one way or another. Guess they would all be considered more folk than viking, either way...I've got my work cut out for me with all these bands... #uhyeah# #whew#

You can't really go wrong with just about any of the names on that list.

I love the list, but as a Folk Metal fan, I feel you should know Skyclad. For being the pioneers of Folk Metal, as well as extremely solid album-wise (their weakest album is still very solid), they're amazing. Go with Wayward Sons of Mother Earth or Prince of the Poverty Line first. I went with The Answer Machine? as my first, and I thought that it was quite good. One more band to add, and that's Korpiklaani. Voices of Wilderness is a great album, it has a very thrashy feel. "Beer Beer" FTW
