My dear, the world's been fucked ever since the inception of religion in an organized format.
Wonder when we'll be seeing $4/gallon gase prices out here in Cali. Or worse... a big shroom cloud (and NOT the kind that makes people see the size of them big chickens).

I don't know if I'd be placing an Israel #1 sticker on the bumper of my car just yet. I can't say this is an entirely black and white issue, as is the case with almost everything - especially involving the geo-politics of the Middle East. Let's remember that Israel has a right to defend itself, but not kill innocent civilians. The same will be said for Hamas, Hezbollah, et al. It's just another example of chaos that is imbued in the region that won't subside until another inhabitable planet exists nearby....

Isreal has been a good faith partner in every peace plan, The got out of Lebenon and this. They got out of Gaza and they got shit on. Unfortunately no, it will cease to exist when the free countries of this planet realize that we are at war and the only endgame is to rout out terrorist entities like Hezbollah, Hamas, Al Qaida etc. by whatever means possible. If we can disarm them peacefully great, if not it has to happen some other way and soon, because their only intent and reason for being is to destroy Isreal, the West and moderate Arab states. Also there must be a united front against Syria, Iran and North Korea. If the free world continues to put it's head in the sand this problem will never go away... ahhh yes but ever so slowly these fence sitters are coming around. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060724/pl_nm/mideast_france_dcYou can sense a shift in the region which has me somewhat optimistic. Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Jordan etc have for the most part denounced Hezbollah and kept their mouths shut here. This will go along way to further isolate them, as well as their backers. 10 years ago this never would have happened. Oh yeah, lest we forget, we don't have Saddam spouting off right now either thank God. #applause#

I wouldn't consider this remotely the same as acquiescence to the support of Israel, though. I don't see Saddam having much to do with this. Last I remember he was an enemy of Iran and many of the other Middle Eastern regimes anyhow. Allegiences turn on the stop of a dime, but ONE allegience doesn't: that of hatred for Israel for some reason... not getting into THAT one, but all I am saying, is there is almost never a clear cut case of a "good guy, bad guy" in most middle eastern crises, especially bloodshed.

I won't call Israel perfect, but they've taken a lot more shit from their neighbors than they've ever dished out, half the stuff the muslims complain about is land Israel won after being attacked by them. Which is down right hilarious.
Vote for terrorists, get bombed on.

What is happening unfortunately, is countries like Iran and Syria, give money to these terrorist groups like Hezbollah and they take that money a do two things, ramp up their war machine and use a portion of it to provide the populace things like education, medical care and other essential needs to butter them up. This way they can keep them on their side no matter how bad they are. The people see their lives get better, (until this crap goes down). But they are more likely to go along with them because they have been in essence bribed.
Were on the brink of WWIII here and too many countries are ignoring the signs. If you stop this all now before it gets out of hand (for instance Iran gets the bomb) then the world will be better off. But I'm afraid the world will go the way of Neville Chamberlain, that dumb ass conservative British Prime Minister who continued to give Hitler every thing for promises, just to be lied to. Many in the world will continue to try to appease these radical Muslims until it's too late. Then there is the US, Israel, Italy, Japan Australia etc. who get it... but Kofi and his little anti-west cabal including France and Spain, etc., and the commies Russia&China won't get it until it's too late. Then we're really screwed.
I'm afraid we need Patton and Churchill now not Cindy Sheehan and Hugo Chavez.
Every time Israel tries to play nice they get shit on. I don't blame them for taking the fight to them now.
Also isn't it funny how the propaganda makes Israel out to be some sort of Goliath? a few million jews on a tiny strip of land against 400 millions Muslims with huge land mass who time after time attack Isreal, and Isreal is the bad guy... It's beyond mind blowing...

Very well said Brett, and I agree with all of it. The Iraq thing still irks me and it's probably 6 one way, half dozen the other on whether we as a country would be better off right now had we not gone in. Our military wouldn't be so thin while on the brink of such potential mayhem, the overall attitude of the extreme Muslims might not be so shitty also. But the war on terror has to and will be fought on many fronts, we really do need to streamline and cut short our stay over there though just so we can regroup. Get those Iraqies in shape, let them deal with the inevitable problems they'll have with those idiots just like Israel is...and we can hopefully focus on crippling the various terrorist groups everywhere. As far as Israel, they do seem to be the one being bullied all the time...it's complicated though. Overall I say they have a right to defend themselves and in this case I'm glad our gov't isn't telling them to play nice... Seth

French President Jacques Chirac appealed to the United States to speed up its response to Arab nations' demands for changes to the resolution, saying that giving up the push for an immediate cease-fire would be the "most immoral" response.
They were already to go with the resolution that would stop hostilities and THEY (the French) back down and he says this?
The guy is a real dick!
