Yeah, but those people's rights were infringed upon. Forget about the thousands of lives saved, what about those people's rights? [note the sarcasm]

Yeah ok sure, did they VIOLATE the Canadian constitution? There's really almost no excuse (well, in this country at least) for breaking the law for the "good of the public." Afterall, with that excuse, where does one draw the line? Perhaps we should just shred the letter of the law and the Constitution BEFORE THE FACT just because, well, the Executive branch says it's in our best interest to do so. Being that as it may, the dwindling trust this adminsitration has breached time and time again, leads me to believe if anything, the burdenof proof better be DAMN STRONG before they take it upon themselves to treat themselves as above the law. There is a fine line... somewhere... in the shifting sands.
Sorry to say but to say the Bush adminstration is in possession of diminishing amounts of credibility and believability is an understatement.

Most presidents in the 20th century have used the same principles and done the same thing, especially during time of war. Crax me up, the same people who were mad because Bushy didn't do enough to protect them against 9-11 are now crying because he doing what it takes.... Same ol' song and dance...

The Bush administration constantly is attempting (and often, succeeding) to push the scope of executive powers, as a matter of fact, if I am not mistaken, Republican Senator Arlen Spector is currently forming a committee to analyze, research and possibly present a case in the courts AGAINST just this carte blanche, blank check power mongerng by the Bush administration. It seems, the neo-cons and the Bush cabinet feel they can violate the constitution AND laws enacted by Congress for the sake of whatever the mood of the day, or their road map to conquest will lead them.
I don't really think the 'same old song and dance' is pertinent here. There's plenty of academic political analysts, professors, and bi-partisan politicos who are in agreement that what the Bush team is doing is basically unprecedented in attacking the laws and policies and mandates that stand in their way of the expansion of Executive Branch power grab.
