I'm still trying to figure out why if it seems every other nation on earth is anti-US as that ed piece proclaims, that they are all mistaken or ignorant. While the international picture is far from black and white, there are plenty of elements of truth to justify a hatred and envy of the US. Since when is a capitalist economy above reproach or criticism though? While I'm not a socialist or commie or amphibianist, there's plenty I don't like about this country, but I really think most of the resentment and hostility is directly aimed at particular administrations, their actions and perceived agenda, to whatever degree it is true. Hey, holding 5% of the worlds population and using over 25% of world energy resources (plenty of which is imported) gives ample reason to explout other nations for purely political and comodity-driven reasons. I feel their is some rationality in anti-US sentiment, but that said, I'm happy to be a US citizen and still dig amphibians.

Yeah I agree, there is more than one reason out there to be anti-US. But in truth, that is our own government's fault, but indirectly our fault for allowing them to do what it is they do.

Vegeta IMO, the fact that we are "free" leads the religious countries to feel we are immoral and therefore evil. We do hit the depths of depravity...but other countries not necessarily so free do also. But one of the biggest reasons is that we are "the big kid on the block". Same mentality applies...everyone wants to kick our ass. There's of course the fact that we police the earth, use resources, yada, yada...We could easily look to the massive amount of corruption in out gov't. All gov'ts have corruption...ours is a little more apparant because we are so big and important on a worldwide level. And we don't even know the extent of how corrupt major national gov'ts are. That's not meant to be anti-US either...just realistic human nature. Seth

There's a reason we use 25% of the resources, We are generating the most goods and services that the whole world benefits from. Si? ;D
