Wow, been forever since I've been on...my PC took a crap awhile ago. Been using my son's laptop for necessities, just got a new one...so want to get back to my boards! Hope everyone is doing good, been busy as hell myself...working like crazy. But lots of driving, so lots of good music time. Haven't got the new Arch/Matheos yet, I'm so behind as always... Gettin' it soon though.

The relatively crappy new official board really killed this already small community :/

I knew there was another official board, but back then I didn't register or use it. I just checked out the one from the official band site, guess that's the one? Pretty quiet unfortunately.
Who all is on there? Anyone else from here or the old orange board? Scanned thru the forums, but there's not much. Would like to see how everyone is doing. I assume when there's details released about the new album things will pick up, but also thought the Arch/Matheos release would spark more activity.
For now, I'm enjoying the A/M album a lot.

Yeah, I expected things to get more active with the A/M release, and now the announcement that a new FW album is officially being worked on--but management sort of shot itself in the foot by de-linking this board in favor of inferior new forum software, not having a forum on the A/M site, not updating tour dates on the A/M site (well, there are only three, but still), and... I'm farren over there, which I think I was on the old orange board as well... I use these names interchangeably and accidentally registered as the other one on the new board--not that I've had much of a presence here anyway over the years I haven't really recognized any of the old crowd on the new forums yet, though. I'm enjoying Sympathetic Resonance, too. I was a little disappointed after hearing the radio edit of Stained Glass Sky (the intro in the full track made me love it, though ) and then Midnight Serenade, but once I got the full album and heard Any Given Day and Incense and Myrrh, it really felt like a logical continuation from the Arch EP and I was satisfied--it doesn't sound like FWX, and, while I may not be popular for it, I consider that a very good thing as it's the only Fates album I don't personally spin. I just hope they play both those songs, Relentless or Cheyenne (or both ) and plenty of classics when I fly out to see them in May. I'm not insane so I'm not expecting them to do something like Fata Morgana, but Guardian, The Apparition, or Damnation aren't unreasonable expectations IMO. I'm going to ignore the set lists from the Euro festival so I'll have no way of being disappointed no matter what they play in CT. Can't wait--concert experience of a lifetime. If John's lost it, I don't give a shit, he'll sound like Jesus to me.

"FWX" was weird for me, liked it a lot right away...then it kinda burned out quick. Then after a long break, I went back and was amazed just how great it sounded. Not my favorite of the catalog, but it's tough to compete with APSOG and "Spectre Within" as my favorites. But since then it's ranked quite high for me.
I feel like the A/M album is a great progression of the blending of their styles, a bit of Arch's old writing and vocal delivery style with an updated musical style.
I'll be following the other board and news of the new album. Wish I could see them for sure, won't happen unfortunately... :^(
