Okay... I'm starting to some stellar reviews for TFoT. Thought it would be a grand idea to start posting links here. I'll be putting my thoughts to text as soon as I get some substantial free time. Feel free to add your own review, or the link to one you've found. Let's start it off with a bang, shall we? Sea of Tranquility - Reviewer: Murat Batmaz(aka batmura on the Perpetual Motion Forum) I'm expecting to see many more like this

A very positive thread on bravewords(braveboard): www.bravewords.com/braveboard/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=70710&s=I've been looking for this at the store(local exchange), they don't have it...anyone seen it at Best Buy? Or is it not hitting the main stores like that? I'm tapping out a bit on my music budget, saving for the new Opeth on the 30th...but this one is a priority soon after. Sounds very good... ;D Seth

Try Borders, it's listed as available there, and one of my local store shows it as being in stock. Only thing that I didn't like about that thread... The assumption that "Parker's Eyes" is 9/11 inspired. It's not, really. Nick used some sound bites from various news reports on a multitude of topics, including 9/11. The song is actually more inspired by his feelings about becoming a parent and his daughter, Parker. Oh... and that freaky looking dude that has "never been Ray Alder fan". To each his own

Yeah, those guys are quite varied(and hard-nosed) on their opinions, which is why I was very impressed with the high marks. I don't take everyone's word for it, but it helps to see so many with that much appreciation. Of course on your recommend, I was going to get it either way...I will keep looking and get it soon for sure... Seth

I read a lot more on that board than post, like you I would assume. It's a cool board for learning about new bands, getting ideas and reviews. There's so much variety and probably any metal question you have can be answered there.
Really stoked for the new Opeth, have read a lot more good/great reviews than bad. Good to hear you like it since you didn't like the last few much. "The Grand Conjuring" sounds like a cool song, can't wait to hear it on CD rather than my crappy PC speakers.

OK, I got a pretty good feel for it this week...once through on the headphones reading the lyrics too.
Excellent prog album, superb writing all the way around. NvD is the man, "Parker's Eyes" is incredible lyrically as well as "Sapphire"...and of course Ray completely conveys the emotion that is meant to come through.
The music is also top notch, the kind of technical perfection that DT could learn from. I mean writing wise, DT has the talent...but they don't write stuff like this. The drums are very impressive, liking them a lot along with the bass for a well rounded rhythm section. And of course Nick and Bernie kill on the guitar, great riffs and solos. One more note, the piano is awesome! Love that integrated in the music, I see why you raved so much Colleen... #cheers#

I think the key word here is 'Emotion' Somehow DT fails to 'touch' me as much as Redemption or Fates does.
