So far, it's led to a lot of pissed-off jews. sadly, this sort of thing is necessary if there will ever be any stability in that region.

I wonder where it will all lead from here. I'm guessing - nowhere. Joe

It's amazing to me how many people(mostly the gov't) can't see the forest through the trees. It's a great thing for the Isrealis to make concessions in the name of peace. Even if they shouldn't have to, it's the right thing to do in every way. But it will ultimately lead to a greater resentment and one little spark will send the region into more turmoil than they've seen before.
You can't forcibly remove people from their land and homes and expect them to be happy about it with no plans for eventual retaliation.

Ok this is what I seem to be hearing in most of these Arena posts... We all might as well just throw up our arms and give up. There is no hope... The world is going to end anyways... lets all collectively stick our heads between our legs... better yet I've got some laced koolaid, why prolong the agony... were all screwed, and hell were all gonna die anyways Jeeze people, buck up! Actually why don't we just drop a few bombs on the whole middle east before that just for shits and grins... Then again we could throw a party instead... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

What the heck is there to be so optimistic about? On my end, I can be comfortable in knowing(believing) that all of this in time will be dealt with...but not by us. While we continue to run the world, there is nothing to get excited about. It may sound like gloom and doom, but it's more realistic than thinking things are getting better...that's the equivelant of sticking your head in the sand and not seeing the obvious because it's too hard to deal with. OK When was the last time we had a full scale school shooting? When was the last time we had a domestic terrorist attack? When was the last time a band of maurading bandits swept through your City and burned it to the ground? When was the last time a plague took out 1/3 of the population When was the last time murderous dictator took over an entire continent and murdered millions? And while I'm at it, Violent Crime is way down, for Christ's sake

It's very shortsighted to look at our situation here mainly and decide that things are getting better. We live in the most peaceful region of the world, and while you mentioned a few worldwide topics...you don't have to think to far back to see the misery faced in other countries.
Only about a year ago, hundreds were killed in Russia from the school hostage situation. Just yesterday, over 600 killed in a stampede in Iraq...the tsunami took out what, a quarter million? This hurricane is likely the worst to ever hit the US. And it was only months ago that the kid in Wisconsin I think took out 6 or 7 in his school. It's nice to hear that violent crime is down overall, but it's in my backyard practically everyday and night. People are absolutely insane in my city, don't know about yours.
Whether it be natural disasters or human caused, the world is crumbling. We can't fix the physical planet, and the political and social problems are simmering right now all over the world. It's only a matter of time until it starts boil, but somehow... we with our great and loving spirit can fix all this.

Dude I'm not saying anything is necessarily getting better. It just definitely not any worse. Same Ol' Same Ol'.... Shit happens And to think that natural disasters are some kind of sign from the heavens is just bullshit to me. That's so BC. hehe That's just life, that's all. Weather is something that happens, always has, always will. You want to pick out a few incidents and say the sky is falling fine. I just think that's defeatism at it finest, and inaccurate. People have been doing that since the beginning of time. As a country and more importantly on whole as a planet, we live longer, we are more prosperous, and life is much easier than it was just 150 years ago. We didn't even have electricity Were all walking self fufilling prophecies. The human experience is full of lots of suffering, but that's no different than it ever was. Sometimes life is hard. For many it's a fight to survive, but that's how it's ALWAYS been. Lemons or lemonade. Now go and get yourself some cold chocolate ice cream (something that people didn't have a couple hundred years ago) and smile and eat it.

How'd you know I like ice cream so much??... I'm actually an ice cream addict, chocolate as a matter of fact. I don't mean that weather and natural disasters are getting worse, they always have been...but they likely will get worse as the physical condition of the planet worsens. I guess as much as technology has made life easier, I tend to focus on how hard it is for those who don't benefit from it. I look at the whole world and know in my heart that they don't have a chance in many places. It's discouraging. But, I will take that ice cream soon...it's hotter than hell in July with the oven on... Seth

hehe I'm an Ice Cream Addict too. Rocky Road is my favorite and any Ice cream that has Chocolate and Peanut Butter... And yes the weather may well get worse, and the one thing I know that will suck will be when the population eventually grows to a breaking point, but we are far from there. But even there, I'm optimistic that the human species will survive and find solutions to our problems, despite the minority of idiots who are desructive or non helpful at best. We will do that because it's in our best intrest. When Survival is the essence the human species is pretty hardy and innovative. Oh and by the way I do live in the safest city of 1 million or more in the U.S. , San Jose. hehe!! So maybe I'm un-jaded? is that a word? ;D ;D ;D ;D (But I grew up in LA so I know what crime is. I lived through the LA Riots, that was a trip!)

Yeah but now the pressure is on Hammas, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Hizballah, Islamic Jihad and the Palistinian Liberation Front (how many terrorist groups do they need anyway, I'll stop right there but there a several more) to show good faith. They have all this public opinion momentum going because they were "so oppressed" (ack!) If they don't, opinion will swing back to Isreal, and maybe Abbas can reel those fuckers in.
But nothing will truely end it all because Jerusalem will never be settled.
More likely they will use this to arm themselves for the Mother of All Battles PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!!! AYAYAYAYA!!!!
hehe
