sanjaya is another chicken little from last year....but at least chicken little could sing.
the guys just didn't do it for me last night. they were good, but they didn't have the wow factor as simon would say. i'm saying that brandon and sanjaya should go, after last night's performances. i personally like blake and chris r. chris s. and sundance can bring it though. jared reminds me of a taller carlton banks on fresh prince of belaire.
the girls....i like stephanie, lakisha and melinda. we'll see what they do tonight.
is it just me....does it seem like the contestants are getting weaker and weaker each year?
here's a silly question. i know all about time zones and stuff. i'm eastern standard time. so, does this mean that ai comes on in cali at 5 or is it delayed? and if it's delayed that means i would have an extra 3 hours to vote. just saying.

I just can't get into the contestants this year. Is it me or is the overall talent level lower. Or is it the contestant demographic has changed or something but I'm having a hard time even staying tunes this year...

Could it be that the show itself is a bad pale imitation of Star Search, and everyone on there is a publicity whore?

Ok, NOW this is getting ridiculous. Stephanie, easilly one of the top 3-4, is off, and yet nincompoops like Sanjaay (a nice enough dude, but ENOUGH already, you Idol malcontents) are still on the show for vindictive/jealousy/lets-throw-a-wrench-in-the-works rationale. I'm almost tempted to quit watching, as I did a few seasons back when LaToya suffered the same untolerable fate, but... well, there's STILL LaKisha, Melinda and Jordan. Blake's got my vote for the dudes, though!
Ben, dude... you need to WATCH the show, there's some incredibly talented singers... it's actually SUPPOSED to be a singing competition, but surely anything that's become a pop phenomena becomes diluted by naysayers and malcontents, see above example.
I'd say that AI is more a natural contemporary evolution of the Star Search model...

For your first observation, TOTALLY. And the same with the red-haired Johnny whateverhisname was, the year before. There's always one wrench in the works who makes it through because of the X factor and then is put on a pedestal by the malcontents. For your second comment, well... in the case of the guys, maybe... but the girls are incredibly strong this year, more so than for a few previous seasons, so...

I've actually been more on a Black Cherry Vanilla Coke kick, recently. If you've heard the voices of Lakisha, Melinda, Stephanie and a few others, whether or not you dig their taste in song selection, you'd be undeniably impressed - or maybe in your case, permanently pressed... ;-)

I'll have to regretfully disagree. You have (had) cream of the crop talent like Stephanie, Lakisha, Melinda and Jordan Sparks... who imho are as good as the Underwood and Clarkson of yesteryears, whereas almost all of the guys are underwelming. WIth this Sanjaya fiasco brewing, though, I'm rather losing patience with the whole thing and the torture fest that 24 has become... time to swtich back to my Viewmaster Viewfinder!
As for NYC, well, nothing is cheap... if you are looking for cheap and merely ok, there's a variety of places around Penn Station (Penn Plaza hotel) you can search - that's around midtown, 34th street or so. Try that for a start...

I've managed to keep up with the show although I miss all the result ones. The Sanjaya thing was ridiculous, but it happens every year. I agree that the overall talent lacked from the get go of the final 12, but there are obvious standouts who are still there. It took a big hit for me when Sundance got voted off, I liked that dude a lot. Anyway, it's cool to have a local doing so well...Jordin is really amazing and gets better every week. The hype going on around here for her is crazy, but deserved. Her and Melinda have pro written all over them and both should have good careers I'm sure. Far as the guys, I'll agree with Scott that Blake is pretty damn good...very unique if anything. Not that I like the beatbox thing really, but when used properly it adds a cool factor. He reminds me a lot of Sting, which is a good thing voice-wise IMO. Otherwise most of the guys weren't anything special. Have to believe it'll be Melinda and Jordin in the final, Jordin seems to be the favorite I would think to win it all. She's got the entire package, but Melinda vocally may still be the best.
