I'm thinking maybe theend is swamped right now with their big 13% off everything sale. Took almost a week to get my fulfillment email(Coenen) and it still hasn't come in the mail yet... Hopefully tomorrow. I went to the music store yesterday though, another what seemed like several hours looking and trying to decide. Had Enslaved "Ruun" and the newest Overkill in hand, thought about the new Nuclear Assault and new Voivod. But I have read a little on this band Tristania and a friend was telling me how good "World of Glass" is(2nd to last album). So I happened to spy their newest called "Ashes", decided to grab it more or less blindly. Think it'll be a good buy, got 3 full songs in coming home...has a black metal feel to it along with the goth style they're known for. Female vox sound good as do the 2 male singers, one clean and one growls. Thing that stood out the most was the production, very good...sounded awesome cranked. Might be a grower, but the music sounded tight. www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:in2uakoksm3kHave to c&p the link, won't transfer correctly for some reason??

That's cool, I've been thinking about picking up some stuff from those guys (and gal), pretty good music if you ask me. I got a shippment notice from the end real fast with my Garden of Shadows cd, but since it's going all the way to Chico, then here in Santa Cruz, it's still not here yet... but should come in soon, I hope. And about the end, they're moving all the way to the east coast, so maybe that's why they've been slow. Punks, moving farther away from me...

Yeah, tell me about it...they're in Utah now as far as I know. So just when I start using them they move a whole country away from me... I think under normal circumstances they're pretty fast, and with the free shipping it's still first class which even from coast to coast only takes a couple days usually. Good deal to me. I would already recommend Tristania if you like Lacuna Coil, Epica, Therion or any of the other goth style bands. Sounds like a winner, have some running around to do today and will play it some more. Then crank it out at work tomorrow.

I have Beyond the Veil and it is very cool. Love the dynamics, acoustic interludes, and the male scream vocals are of the wicked high pitched black metal variety which I love. Add in the sound of strings, and that haunting female voice and it pretty much rules... Good choice dude...

I'm a Tristania fan from way back, as I must've said somewhere in this forum. My favs remain the Morten years (ep through Beyond the Veil), and I like Sirenia too.

I keep reading now that that one and the other older ones(like Ben said) are the best, I'll be sure to pick them up I'm sure. Personally I like the deeper growls a bit more, easier on the ears. Some of the black style are pretty good though if they're not too screechy, but even then I can get passed it if the music is good enough. Ben, just read up on Sirenia a little...sounds like another to check out.

Coenen CD finally came today, was getting a little worried there... It'll get a full spin and maybe then some tomorrow, gonna be a long day. Tristania is killer! Really good album already and I think it has a lot of room to grow yet, nice combo of black and goth... #rockin# #git#

#bitingnails# Looking forward to your thoughts on it! It truly is a great set of songs. Patron Saint is my favorite, and was hella fun to sing with Paul at the show in January. Get geared up for the DVD in a couple of months. Getting my copy any day now and will let you all know what I think after viewing. A bit nervous as to how I'm gonna look, though. (Damn females) Looks like I'll be having some much needed free time on my hands starting next week, so I'll be back online (not working) more. Yay!! Miss being around for more than a few seconds here and there. AND the dot com will be getting some much needed revamping done. Gonna be talking with Jim and Ray about that hopefully next week...

Ah, I finally got "Oracle Moon" by Garden of Shadows, and I must say, it's way good. Very high quality atmospheric death metal. It was definitely worth the [unnecessary] wait! -Kerrick

Colleen - will I ever get to chat with you again? Very soon, I hope. Have much to divulge about that damn University site job that was going on. Finishing up the other huge redesign and print catalog this week, after that I'll finally have some free time. **YAY**

Just read some reviews for that GoS "Oracle Moon", sounds very good with some positive comparisons to Opeth. Will look into this soon... ;D What's up with them though, one album in '00 and out? Just going by allmusic's discography, they didn't even have a review though... Still working on some more thoughts for the Coenen album, in the other thread. But Tristania is blowing me away, such a killer album...all the vocals are excellent, the music is top notch and perfectly produced. There's some pretty evil lyrics going on there too, not gory...but well written to get the darkness across... #hardrock# #loldevil# Just very good writing and execution, and kind of original to me anyway with that cool mix of the black and goth genres. Looks like I'm gonna wait on the new Agalloch for awhile, eyeing a copy of "The Mantle" right now which I should get first.
