Don't know if anyone still checks these boards... but I remember a few folks here liked Orphaned Land. They got a "teaser" of their upcoming album up on youtube: www.youtube.com/orphanedlandtvGotta admit, it sounds pretty epic!

You beat me to the punch on this by 2 days, just got on to post the link... Holy Shit does that sound great, I'm so looking forward to hearing it! If it's even close to as good as "Mabool", it will be another masterpiece from these guys. Good 'old Steven Wilson producing and and throwin' in some keys should take it to another level even. Hope things are going good with you, I'll shoot you an email when I have a chance! Seth....

Wow, I just went back and read through this thread...we were all fired up about this album being released back in late '06, early '07!!! #ohgoon# Not that I forgot about it, but I can't believe it was that long ago and it's still not out. But that's cool, we have a release date now!!!

I got mine last Wed., have only spinned it twice but I do like it already. It's certainly no re-hash of the previous albums, and I think it'll take quite awhile to sink in completely. But I already have confidence that it will be excellent! Have a nice long driving route to Yuma, AZ coming up Mon. night...it will get much playtime... #hardrock# #rockin# Sorry I never got to the email Kerrick, still not getting on the PC a ton...but it's getting better. Will try to get one out soon, hope all is well!

The album kicks ass, yes.
It's self-produced, Wilson only mixed it and played some keyboards and mellotrons.
And yes, I saw them again, live at ProgPower X back in September, though I'm missing them in NYC this next week due to scheduling.

Man, I wish I could see them live...sure it would be amazing. They need to come out west, only way it'll ever happen for me...someday I'm sure. Interesting some of the reviews out there for the new album, not that I'm surprised. Seems like the main complaint is the length, doesn't bother me at all...it would if it dragged on and became boring. But that's not the case at all IMO, has kept my interest beginning to end and gets better everytime. I also think a lot of OL fans are comparing it too much to "Mabool" and not listening to it on it's own, reviewing it on it's own merit and not judging it by previous releases. I actually think it could be even better than "Mabool", not quite ready to commit to that yet...but it's a fantastic album, period. It has a perfect balance of heavy and mellow, flows nicely all the way through...and of course technically they all kick ass on their respective instruments. The guitar work continues to be excellent as always, I think the drums are improved some...and I mentioned in other reviews that Kobe's clean vocals seem to have improved greatly on this album also. Wilson's keys are very well done, and I really like the symphonic touches. I have a feeling that many of the negative reviews will change over time, it seemed to click with me very fast...but I'm sure some fans will have to give it more time to catch on. If they give it time that is, and not give up on it cuz 'it's too long and it's not as good as "Mabool" ', blah, blah, blah.......

Indeed, Seth.
What the album loses in immediacy, it makes up for longtime appeal and research. For instance, once you read the translations of the non-English lyrics for Sapari, the concept opens up.
